A herb christened “blessed” in local patois, shadon beni is known by over 73 names worldwide; scientifically Eryngium foetidum to avoid ambiguity!
Translated as “white sausage” this is a Bavarian speciality, eaten poached and not fried, served with sweet mustard, a pretzel and of course weissbier (wheat beer).
Just like Granny used to make, unbeatable with a cracker and cheese.
Packed with bold and spicy seasonings, these add delicious heat to any dish.
A beautiful parcel of meat carved from the end of the Berkshire loin, cured simply using minimal sugar, and partially cooked. It is unsmoked, and delivers those familiar Christmas ham flavours.
